Don't Worry, Be Happy

According to SMH, Inc. depression will become the number one cause of disability in women and children by 2020. Sadly, many people think that feeling blue is the "norm" and there is nothing they can do about it. That is simply not the case! To prevent and treat that unhappy feeling, try making a few small, but significant changes and you will be well on your way to feeling your absolute best every day. If you think you are suffering from something more than the everyday "blues", it is best to consult your doctor.

Nutrient Deprived

Recent discoveries have begun to prove that we "think we are" what we eat. In other words, the foods we consume have a direct correlation to how we feel. Below, we list the top blues busters, which will balance your moods and leave you feeling satisfied. To get that happy feeling back, drink a Happy Smoothie once or twice a day!

"Find Your Happy" Smoothie

2 handfuls of organic spinach

1 cup coconut milk

2 tbsp. greek yogurt

1/2 tbsp. raw honey

1 tbsp. ground flax seeds

1/2 banana

1 handful organic blueberries

5 drops Lotus Wei Joy Juice

Combine above ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

Spinach: Besides iron, spinach has folic acid too that makes you feel better. Folic acid improves the health of red blood cells and your immunity, protecting you from diseases that soak out your happiness.

Coconut Milk: By consuming limited portions, coconut milk can be a healthy fat that helps re-build tissue and improve body functions.

Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt is rich in proteins and is great as a probiotic. Opt for full fat Greek yogurt as the fats present in the curds act as brain boosters.

Honey: Honey is a sugar substitute and it is organic. Kaempferol and quercetin are two properties present in honey that improve the health of the brain as well as reduce inflammation in the brain.

Flax Seeds: According to flaxhealth.com, flaxseeds reduce cholesterol, diabetes, and cancer risks, along with constipation, inflammation, menopause, heart disease, and "the blues." It's also stated on this website that.."Follow up studies show that just 2-3 tablespoons of flax daily can help up to 2/3rds of severely depressed women bounce back within eight weeks."

Blueberries: Blueberries are natural anti-depressants. Blueberries contain water-soluble phytochemicals called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are found in foods that have deep pigmentation (blues and reds).. like blueberries. The anthocyanins are what help ward off depression.

Joy Juice: Flower essences, whether taken internally or applied externally, create immediate positive effects on mood and state of mind. Joy Juice by Lotus Wei helps you experience more happiness, laughter, joy and content in your life. Find out more at THE pearl.
